Reflection Prompts

Below are some prompting questions for you to think about as you write your reflective narratives for each experience included on your ePortfolio. You do not have to include every prompt on your ePortfolio, rather pick and choose the prompts you want to respond to and curate your reflections to be individual and unique to yourself!

Assignment 1: About Me Section

1: Create an About Me section.

2: Add a professional-style photo of yourself. This will serve as one artifact for this section.

3. Write your about me section using the following reflection prompts.

This should be a detailed description of who you are. This section should contain enough information that a reader can get a sense of who you are and what they will see in the rest of your ePortfolio.

  • Describe who you are, including information about your interests, skills, values, and personality.

  • Reflect on 2-3 life experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today. Include things such as mentors and/or important milestones/markers in your life.

  • Tell us why you are in college at IUPUI, and introduce your goals for college and beyond.

Optional: Include additional artifacts to support your Bio/About Me section (e.g. life quote, additional pictures, etc.).

Assignment 2: My Major & Career Goals Section

1: Add a section in your ePortfolio titled My Major & Career Goals.

2: Reflect on why you chose your major and career goals.

My Major & Career Goals Section

In this section you will explain your choice of major(s) and minor(s), or what majors you might be considering and why. As you think about why you chose your major and current career goals, reflect on why these are meaningful to you.

Write a two-paragraph reflection that describes your major and career goals.

Give your reflection a descriptive title.

  • Paragraph 1: Describe your major and any minors or certificates, and describe why you chose your major.

  • Paragraph 2: Describe your current career goals and describe why these goals are meaningful to you.

3: Add artifacts to support your reflection.

Choose 1-2 artifacts to represent your 2-paragraph reflection.

Remember, artifacts are digital evidence of your learning and can be images, videos, quotes, documents, etc.

ASSIGNMENT 3: REFLECT ON YOUR FIRST SEMESTER

Step 1: Add a section in your ePortfolio titled My First-Semester Experience.

Step 2: Reflect on your learning and experiences this semester.

As you wrap up your first semester at IUPUI, take some time to think about what you have learned and how you will apply that learning in future semesters. This practice of looking back and thinking about the lessons you have learned is called reflection, and is something to do after significant learning experiences to help you continue to learn and grow.

Write a three-paragraph reflection that looks back on your first semester in response to your earlier self.

Give your reflection a descriptive title.

  • Paragraph 1: Describe your IUPUI journey from applying, orientation, bridge, to now. Then reflect on 1-2 significant learning experiences you had this semester. These can be a specific assignment in a course or anything you participated in outside of class. Describe each experience in detail, explain why it was significant, and tell us what you learned from each experience.

  • Paragraph 2: Describe what you have learned about your overall strengths and weaknesses. Use specific examples; your examples can be from any class or from things that happened outside of classes.

  • Paragraph 3: Identify one big lesson you learned in your first semester and how you can apply it to the rest of your life. Then, give yourself one piece of advice for next semester.

Step 3: Add artifacts to support your reflection

Choose 1-2 artifacts to represent your 2-paragraph reflection.

Remember, artifacts are digital evidence of your learning and can be images, videos, quotes, documents, etc.
